Life-Giving Bible Verses for Womenਨਮੂਨਾ

When You’re Grieving
Your pain matters to Jesus.
Whatever you’re grieving, however big or small in the world’s eyes, your pain matters to Him. He doesn’t compare or measure grief like humans do. He is not utilitarian or mathematical in His approach. No, He is a present, constant friend who will weep with you.
When Jesus wept with Mary and Martha after their brother Lazarus died, He knew that in a matter of minutes, their grief would be turned to joy, that their tears would be momentary and pale in comparison to the coming miracle. Even with that knowledge, He didn’t shame Mary or Martha for their lack of faith. He didn’t compare their pain to others’, telling them that many had it worse than they did. He didn’t tell them to look on the bright side. Before the miracle, before He turned their grief to joy, He wept as though Mary and Martha’s finite eyes were His.
When you are grieving, you can weep before Him with no fear of judgment. As His follower, you may know that your “light and momentary affliction is producing for [you] an eternal glory that is far beyond comparison” but it often doesn’t feel that way. It was much the same for Martha. She expressed faith in Jesus that her brother would be raised one day in the final resurrection, but nonetheless, her heart was wracked with pain in the present. Jesus understood Martha’s pain. He walked the earth as a human too and understands that grief in the present often outshouts hope for the future. When you go to Christ for comfort, just as He wept with Martha, He will weep with you.
When you are grieving, run to the Lord like Martha ran to Him, confident that though He knows the beautiful future you have ahead, He feels every ounce of your pain in the present. He will be near to you and will comfort you. Your pain matters to Him.
Pray: Jesus, You are the same God today as You were when You grieved with Mary and Martha. Thank You for comforting me in my grief, for weeping with me when I can’t imagine that anything good can come out of my pain. You see the beginning from the end, yet You choose to grieve with me in the present. Thank You for your kindness and closeness.
