3 - LORD'S PRAYER - the Lord´s Requirements

DAY 5 OF 17

05 – Yes, in Heaven!

As we said, there is another meaning for the word “heaven.” To reflect on this third kind of heaven, we need to consider the spiritual dimension of life.

Our ability to understand heavenly things is very limited. We cannot fully grasp the “spiritual heaven” because our point of reference is bound to the here and now, and we are far more familiar with material realities. Yet true heaven is the dwelling place of our Father—His home—and the place where He longs to bring us one day. We can only perceive it through faith.

The Bible tells us that in heaven we will be free from temptation, tears, death, sorrow, and pain. There will be no temples or religions, no sun or moon, no night or darkness, no corruption, falsehood, lies, or dishonesty. All of these things will pass away, and we will live forever in God’s presence. We struggle to imagine heaven because we are not as spiritual as we wish—but heaven is where our Father dwells.

At the same time, Scripture also teaches that Jesus rejoices to dwell in the heart of anyone who invites Him. We therefore hold on to two truths: God is enthroned in heaven, and God desires to dwell in our hearts.

God is in heaven, and God is within me! If we believe this, then already—here and now—a heavenly joy is present within us. Hallelujah! This was true in the past, and it remains true today: “Our Father in heaven” can also make His home in our hearts. To know this is to discover a new dimension of life and to have our hope continually renewed. To feel the presence of my Father deep in my soul means that, even though my feet walk on earth, they are being guided on the path to heaven.

3 - LORD'S PRAYER - the Lord´s Requirements

The well-known Lord's Prayer, taught by Jesus to his disciples, can be divided, for study purposes, into two parts. The first addresses God's demands: his dwelling, his person, his kingdom, and his will. The second half addresses humanity's demands: their needs for bread, forgiveness, and deliverance. Let us, in this context, address the first part of the prayer.
