Jesus Heals the Ear of the Servant of the High Priest

Jesus is being arrested, His disciples are having a panic attack, and Peter takes out a sword from somewhere and takes a swipe at Malchus’s ear. This man came with the arresting officials since he was the high priest’s servant. He may not have thought he would be the recipient of a miracle on this tragic night, yet there he was with one of his ears clean chopped off by Peter, and Jesus reaches out and heals his ear!

Only Jesus could heal someone at his darkest hour. None of us would have had a thought of anyone else during such a time as this. Jesus unflinchingly reaches out to touch a bleeding and wounded man, restoring him before He would take his place on a cruel cross.

No one took time to speak up for Jesus.

Not one person.

Not one of the people who were healed or delivered by Him.

He was left alone, beaten, betrayed, abused and harassed all for our sake. So that our sins would be taken up by Him, transferring our guilt to Him so that we could be guilt-free. Wow!

You are never a nuisance to God. You can call out to Him even when the rest of the world is in chaos and He will answer you like you are the only one calling out to Him. Your need may feel petty and minimal compared to others needs but you still should ask Him to intervene and help you.

What if you never asked and therefore never received?

What if you thought He wouldn’t see your pain amidst the rest of the hurting world and so didn’t lean on him?

God is never too busy for you, His precious child! He doesn’t sleep or slumber because of exhaustion or sickness. He is Almighty and always available. The question is - will you lean into Him? Will you call on Him?
