Miraculous Temple Tax

What are the odds that the first fish that is caught on a line would have in its mouth a coin, and that, too, the perfect amount to pay off the tax for Peter and Jesus? Crazy right? Peter must have been stunned and yet he obeyed and reaped the benefit of that miracle.

What outrageous thing has God asked you to do recently? Have you obeyed or are you too dignified to obey His wild request?

God calls us to follow Him and repeatedly asks us to carry our cross while doing so. Carrying the cross implies dying to our own flesh and ambitions and living for God every single moment of every day. This is a high calling and not for the weak spirited! It requires that we listen and obey God’s voice and live by His word. We cannot expect the supernatural if we live in disobedience to Him.

God calls us to live subject to human authority figures that He places over our lives. He asks us to live morally and ethically in a way that honours God in every way. He desires that we pay taxes to our nations and live as faithful citizens of our land while remembering that we are also citizens of heaven for all eternity.
