Day 22—The journey from praise to worship, to encounter
Devotional
In this final week, we are looking at the theme of "Worship Is A Journey." Isn’t it amazing that through Jesus, you can approach God’s throne of grace with confidence (Hebrews 4:16 NIV)? As you worship, you are drawing closer to God, and you get the sense of this journey as you read the psalm for today. It begins with praise by singing for joy, shouting aloud (Psalms 95:1 NIV), and coming before God with thanksgiving and music (Psalms 95:2 NIV). You declare who He is and what He has done (Psalms 95:3-5 NIV). Then you move into worship through kneeling and bowing down (Psalms 95:6 NIV). You meditate on His love and care (Psalms 95:7 NIV). Finally, you move into encounter, choosing to wait and listen to His voice (Psalms 95:7 NIV). If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, you have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you (Romans 8:11 NIV), so in one sense you are always in God’s presence. But this journey through praise, worship, and encounter will make you more deeply aware of His presence.
Prayer
Father, today I am drawing towards Your throne with confidence. Receive my praise and worship. I want to encounter Your presence and hear Your voice. Amen.
Application
Praise: Sing a simple song of thanksgiving!
Worship: Tell Him why you love Him in a simple prayer.
Encounter: Wait in silence for a few minutes, receive His love, and listen for His voice.

About this Plan

"Deeper In Worship" is a 28-day plan designed to help you grow in your love for God through a fuller understanding of why and how we worship. Worship is for God alone; it is deeply spiritual, often physical, and a journey into encountering the presence of God. The plan includes a daily Psalm and a New Testament passage. It finishes with a short devotional, a prayer, and a suggested application.
