Greatness: Matthew 14-20ਨਮੂਨਾ

Anxiety is a rising issue in Australia. It could stem from loneliness, isolation, increased use of technology, illness, economic pressures, genetics, and a whole host of other things! It can be terrifying for those in its grip as they feel out of control and afraid of what might happen. As someone who has only experienced it in the last few years, I never really understood how crippling it could be. It affects sleep, relationships, and the ability to work or function normally. Thankfully, we have medications now that can help, and some great psychologists. But that is not all we have.
God knows that we will all have fears or may wrestle with anxious thoughts. Isaiah writes, “Say to those who have an anxious heart, ‘Be strong; fear not!… He will come and save you’” (Isaiah 35:4, ESV). God wants us to take our anxiety to Him. He names anxiety specifically. I have found when nothing else has worked, putting on praise music and pouring my fears out to God has a calming effect and prayer is vital. In turning to God in our anxieties, we have certain hope of His restoration: “Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened” (Isaiah 35:5, ESV).
In the story of the blind men seeking Jesus that we read about today, we see this fulfilment of the hope promised in Isaiah. The blind men cry out to Jesus, crying out to be healed. Nothing deters them. And Jesus heals them. Jesus came to restore us—He is peace on earth, hope fulfilled.
Today, ponder this: God wants us to take all our concerns to Him, in the knowledge and confidence that He will answer because of Jesus. Are there things making you anxious? Are you drowning in your anxiety? Take it to God for He cares for you.
