Greatness: Matthew 14-20ਨਮੂਨਾ

Greatness: Matthew 14-20

DAY 38 OF 64

How powerful is the miraculous authority of Jesus! We see Jesus walking on water, calming the waves, and healing the sick, right after miraculously feeding five thousand people. We can’t even count how many people were healed, “and as many as touched it [the fringe of his garment] were healed” (Matthew 14:36b, ESV).

But what strikes me even more is how Jesus relied on prayer. He commands the disciples to get on the boat and then “he went up on the mountain by himself to pray” (Matthew 14:23, ESV). We see Jesus often finding solitude to pray. Before His death and resurrection, He spent the night in prayer. So much so that the disciples who are meant to be keeping an eye out fall asleep waiting for Him.

Jesus was reliant on prayer for all He did. He prayed before He performed miracles, He prayed for others, and He prayed in solitude to find rest in God.

Today, ponder this: What does your prayer life look like? If your prayers from last week were to be granted by God, what would change? What can you forgo to free up time to pray like Jesus did?
