After the Crossਨਮੂਨਾ

Abram, later renamed Abraham, probably wondered how God was going to bless all the nations on earth through him. Abraham was childless. Old. His wife was barren. But God knew exactly what He was doing. Abraham would indeed birth a nation, and from that nation would come Jesus, God’s own Son. When Jesus died, He made a way for people from every tribe, tongue, and nation to be saved. And then Jesus commissioned the Church—all of us who love Jesus—to take the Good News to the ends of the Earth (see Acts 1:8).

When Jesus was on Earth, He gave this report to the Jews of His day, “Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad” (John 8:56). Abraham rejoiced in the day that it would be clear that God had done what He said He would do. Abraham rejoiced, and, likely, God did too. The day our Big-Hearted God had been planning for a long, long time had come. And because of the Great Love of Jesus, more people would come into His Family—“all of the peoples of the earth” (Genesis 12:3). It’s the most beautiful mission of all. A Great Mission God has had on His Heart forever, and one that He has sweetly invited us to be a part of too. Let’s make God’s Family bigger. That has been His Good Heart all along.
