40-Day Worship Experience Youth Devotionalਨਮੂਨਾ

What do you say to yourself about yourself? For example, you might say bad things: I’m so stupid, I don’t matter, I’m useless, I don’t have any talents, nobody cares about me, I always mess up... On the other hand, you might think good things: I can do this, I’ll find a way forward, I’m a good friend, I do the right thing… These inner conversations have a huge influence on your well-being, either positively or negatively.
What God says about you should form the foundation of positive self-talk. Your worth comes from Jesus, not from your actions or achievements, and not from other people’s opinions. You don’t have to win God’s approval. It is a gift through Jesus. You have nothing to earn and nothing to prove. Nothing you could ever do would make God love you less or more than He loves you right now.
Changing your self-talk is part of what Romans 12:2 means when it says, “Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.” If you let Him, the Holy Spirit will help you recognize and transform negative thoughts that creep in through external influences, including what you listen to, watch, and engage with on social media, as well as the company you keep and the lifestyle you follow.
During your fifteen minutes alone with God each morning, practice making your inner dialogue match what God says about you.As you replace the lies of negativity with God’s truth about you, your self-talk will become more positive and more accurate, and that will help you face challenges and make the most of opportunities that come your way today.
Reflect
Does your self-talk tend to be more negative or positive? How does it affect you? How could it improve?
