40-Day Worship Experience Youth Devotional

DAY 4 OF 40

I’m sure your life is full. That’s a good thing. Who wants to be bored all the time? But if you’re like me, from time to time, you probably feel too busy—maybe even overwhelmed. That’s not how I want to live, and it’s not how God wants us to live.

I’ve learned to use what I call “pause points” at different times in the day to realign my inner world with God and to find His peace again. Pause points are brief moments of prayer, either out loud or in silence, that allow me to refocus my energy on God.

The first pause point is your fifteen minutes alone with Jesus in the morning, but that doesn’t need to be the only one. You might take thirty seconds during your lunchtime, when you get home after school, or in the evening after dinner to reconnect with Him. Pause points can be as simple as taking a breath, inhaling His peace, remembering His love, and praying for His guidance. This shifts your focus from the problems around you to the God who cares for you.

Jesus Himself sought His Father’s presence before dawn and then carried that connection into His day. You are following His example, learning to remain close to the Lord, no matter the circumstances. It’s important to remember that the Holy Spirit resides within you, guiding your heart back to the Father through Jesus.

No matter how busy or difficult your day is, you can instantly reconnect with Jesus whenever you choose. Take a few moments now to practice pausing your thoughts and plans and drawing near to the Father through the Spirit, knowing that Jesus has given you free access to His grace.

In your schedule today, what would be some good times to pause, breathe, and pray?

About this Plan

40-Day Worship Experience Youth Devotional

Welcome to the 40-Day Worship Experience Youth Devotional! This is a time each morning to experience God’s presence for yourself. First, find a quiet space to be alone with Jesus for fifteen minutes before you start your day. All you need is your Bible, worship music, and a place to write down any ideas that come to you. Then, use the devotional readings, Bible verses, and reflection questions as a starting point to spend a few minutes with God. As you do, I believe you’ll build an exciting relationship that will transform every area of your life.
