Have you ever stepped on a LEGO brick barefoot? Or stepped in a puddle of water on the floor while wearing socks? I’m sure in moments like that, you wished you had shoes to protect you and help you move forward safely.

The Bible compares God’s peace to the shoes that soldiers would wear into battle (see Ephesians 6:15). In other words, as we walk through life and face daily challenges, God’s peace is our protection. It helps us move forward in safety.

God’s peace is more than a nice feeling inside our hearts. It affects the way we live. It helps us face hard times and make tough decisions. It gives us strength to keep going, even when the battle is difficult and long.

Don’t just think of peace as an optional accessory to your life. It’s an essential part of your day-to-day life. Just as you wouldn’t go outside without putting on your shoes, don’t leave your prayer time without putting on the peace of God. Surrender your will to His and let the Holy Spirit fill your soul with His peace.

Spend some time today praying, “Jesus, give me Your peace.” Then, face the challenges of the day with God’s protective peace covering your thoughts, emotions, and actions. You’re safe when you’re with Him, walking in His peace.
