40-Day Worship Experience Youth Devotional

DAY 14 OF 40

Congratulations! You’ve finished two weeks of your 40-Day Worship Experience, and you’re making great progress in building the habit of spending the first fifteen minutes of each day with the Lord.

We are reflecting on the simple prayer, “Jesus, give me Your peace.” Isaiah 26:3–4 says that God’s perfect peace is given to us when our thoughts are fixed on Him. Have you ever paused to notice whether your thoughts are focused on God when you first wake up? After all, your thoughts have a huge influence on your life because they affect your desires, motivations, actions, and reactions.

To “fix” your thoughts on God means to keep your focus on Him. You get to choose what you think about. Nobody else can take that away from you.

Fixing your thoughts on God and receiving His perfect peace isn’t complicated. You can begin by simply saying, “Good morning, Jesus.” This directs your thoughts away from the problems or to-do lists that might be filling your mind and toward God. Remember, He is excited for you to wake up, and He wants to spend time with you. You can point your thoughts towards Him the moment your eyes open, even before you climb out of bed.

Try this now. As you listen to worship music, set your thoughts on God. Think about His goodness, love, and presence. Allow the chaos and noise of anxiety to fade into the background. Pray, “Jesus, give me Your peace as I fix my thoughts and focus my eyes on you.”

Reflect

When you wake up in the morning, what are you typically thinking about? What does it mean to fix your thoughts on God? How could you do this throughout the day?

About this Plan

40-Day Worship Experience Youth Devotional

Welcome to the 40-Day Worship Experience Youth Devotional! This is a time each morning to experience God’s presence for yourself. First, find a quiet space to be alone with Jesus for fifteen minutes before you start your day. All you need is your Bible, worship music, and a place to write down any ideas that come to you. Then, use the devotional readings, Bible verses, and reflection questions as a starting point to spend a few minutes with God. As you do, I believe you’ll build an exciting relationship that will transform every area of your life.
