40-Day Worship Experience Youth Devotional

DAY 12 OF 40

We are thinking about this simple prayer today: “Jesus, give me Your peace.” Remember, His peace is different than the peace the world promises. During your fifteen minutes today, I invite you to focus on receiving the peace Jesus promised.

True peace is unmistakable. It protects your heart and mind in the middle of life’s challenges. This peace comes from God, not from your circumstances. It reminds you that even when storms rage around you, Jesus is with you. His presence is your promise of safety.

I’m sure you know what a lack of peace feels like, and it’s not a good feeling. It leaves you anxious, fearful, and unsettled. Remember, anxiety is often a sign that you need to surrender something to God again. Give that area to Him, then watch as God’s peace floods back in. While circumstances may remain unchanged, your heart can be filled with His peace.

God’s peace is like a referee or umpire in our hearts. Colossians 3:15 says, “Let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts.” The word “rule” means to be the one who decides. If you’re trying to make a decision, pay attention to your level of peace. What actions, words, and mindsets help you stay in God’s peace? Let that awareness help guide you.

Do you need God’s peace to rule in your heart today? Do you need it to help you decide what to do, what thoughts to allow into your mind, and what attitude to take toward the challenges you face? If so, pray this simple prayer: “Jesus, give me Your peace.”

Reflect

How does trusting God with your worries lead to peace, even when things don’t seem to get better? What steps can you take today so God’s peace can rule in your heart?
