Why Jesus? He Knows the Highs and Lows of Life
Life is full of highs and lows. One moment, everything is going great, and the next, you’re facing disappointment, betrayal, or heartbreak. The incredible thing about Jesus is that He understands both joy and sorrow because He lived through it.
Palm Sunday is a moment of joy and celebration. Jesus entered Jerusalem to crowds cheering, waving palm branches, and shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” (Mark 11:9). They recognized Him as their King.
But within days, those same crowds turned against Him. By the time of the Last Supper, Jesus knew He would be betrayed, denied, humiliated, and crucified.
The contrast between Palm Sunday and Good Friday is striking. One moment, Jesus is being celebrated, and the next, He is rejected and condemned.
We’ve all experienced moments like this, times when life feels amazing, and then suddenly, things fall apart. The good news is Jesus understands. He knows the joy of being celebrated and the pain of being abandoned. Hebrews 4:15 tells us, “We do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.”
Jesus walked through both triumph and suffering so that we would never have to walk through them alone. No matter what you’re facing today, whether a high or a low, Jesus is with you, and He understands.
Take a moment to thank Jesus for understanding your struggles. If you’re in a high season, praise Him! If you’re in a low season, bring your pain to Him. He knows what it’s like.
