Shortly after the birth of Jesus that first Christmas, an angel appeared to a few shepherds in a field. He came with good news—the best news! It was news that the Son of God had been born in a town nearby. Of course, the shepherds were excited and anxious to meet this Kid. This wasn’t just any baby; this was the long-awaited Savior of the world.

Perhaps the shepherds were surprised by the angel’s description of where they’d find this Kid—lying in a manger, wrapped in cloths, born to a woman as the Son of God and Son of Man. While it wasn’t what the shepherds or even the rest of the world expected, this was the ordinary beginning of Jesus’ extraordinary story.

Today, take time to look for Jesus in the everyday, ordinary moments. Share with others places you found the joy of Christmas where you were least expecting it.
