Creating a Warrior Mindset

DAY 3 OF 5

Going Through

The amazing thing about going through is that you will eventually get through. Read that one more time, notice I said “eventually.” Before I completely mastered my warrior mindset I struggled not to let my circumstances get the better of me. I struggled with understanding that eventually doesn’t mean right away, it means hold on a little longer. One of my favorite Bible stories is the story of Job. He is the perfect example of what happens when you keep your faith in God when you're “going through” and God will not only get you through but he will give you greater than you ever had or could ever imagine. Job was a very faithful man; he had everything he could ever want, a big family, lots of sheep and livestock and riches. I relate to this because I felt like Job when I had a new better paying job and my daughter was behaving and doing well in school. I didn't really have any worries, but like Job, God allowed chaos to happen in my life. I was just floating through the days doing the bare minimum to exist. Eating became a pastime. I isolated myself so the only thing I had as a companion were my growing negative thoughts. This is where the “eventually” became vital. At this point in my life I prayed and cried almost every day until I started praying less and worrying more. Crying became routine. I didn't have the motivation to do anything! I had allowed my circumstances to have power over my mind and whatever has power over your mind also holds the body (You) in captivity . Because of this I attempted to end my own life. I felt like a failure, I blamed myself for all the things happening to me, and most of all I felt like I was failing my daughter. Every day it was a me vs. me fight. Have you ever been in a fight against yourself that felt like the hardest battle to win? Imagine gearing up to fight an opponent in a boxing ring and when you arrive you are your own opponent! You can feel every punch, kick, every blow to the body because you're literally beating yourself up. Beating yourself up starts with your mind and what you think about yourself and the situations you’re in.

I learned that the “eventually” does come! God changed me internally and renewed my mind. (Romans 12:2) . My favorite scripture to repeat when I’m going through is “everything works together for the good of those who love the lord,” Romans 8:28. Everything, not some things, even the bad choices we make or the bad things that happen to us. Everything. Imagine that, you think what you’re going through is meant to take you out but really that’s just God’s way of positioning you for your purpose.

“Eventually”

I want you to take a moment of reflection. This is the time for you to be transparent about your struggles and what you’re currently going through, no matter how big or small. Write it out in detail and after it's all written I want you to write “eventually...” Write how it’s going to get better and how you will eventually come out on top. I want you to visualize it and smile about it because it’s coming!! Let this be your reminder. Where you are is not where you’re going to stay, you are a warrior, a fighter and it’s time for your victory.

Tomorrow we’ll talk about the relief of getting through .
