Creating a Warrior Mindset

DAY 2 OF 5

It’s All in Your Head

Did you know the way fear and negativity show up in your life is controlled by you? See, it took me a while to grasp the idea that I was in control of the outcome of my life simply based on my thoughts. Imagine that you think something, whether it’s negative or positive, and it happens in your life. My mind has been my most powerful weapon when fighting the battles of life. At just 15 years old, in my sophomore year of high school, I got pregnant. Many people around me would say things like, “You’re just a child, what do you know,” or “Well you know you have to give up your dreams.” I was told, “You’re just a child yourself, how are you going to raise a child.” “You’re probably going to have to drop out and just get your GED.” Because those people put limitations on their thoughts, they put limitations on me. Luckily, every time somebody would speak negatively over my life I would combat it with positive thoughts of my dreams and goals. I would think to myself “I’m going to be a star,” “I’m going to be a great mom” and “I’m going to raise my child to be a successful well-rounded woman.”

Once I saw that my life reflected the way I thought and spoke, I began to train and strengthen my warrior mindset. I spoke nothing but success and positivity over my life. I want you to understand that to speak about success, first you have to think about it. Sounds simple but you have to exercise your mind daily and shape the way you think. The same way you would train physically for an athletic event or game, a warrior mindset requires the same effort and intentional energy. When I started really training my mind, I had to work at it daily. There were no days off. I had to cut out things that were taking my attention from God and allowing room for any negative thoughts or self-doubt. One of the biggest distractions was social media. I’m sure you’ve experienced how fast an hour goes by when you're scrolling on TikTok or Instagram. I had to fill my mind with the things I wanted to see happen in my life. When God made it clear what my purpose was, I had to change my atmosphere to be around those types of people. People who made success a priority persevered through the pain and didn't stop until they completed the goal they set. I had to start walking in my purpose and living as if I was already a successful mogul. That’s not an easy thing to do if you don’t prepare your mind. When life is good and your money is right and everything around you is flowing, it’s easy to think positively and be happy, but what about the days when it’s one thing after the other? That’s when your warrior mindset will show up the most ! What you think goes into your heart, what’s in your heart comes out of your mouth and what comes out of your mouth will shape your life.

Sharpen Your Sword

This is the time to sharpen your sword. You are a warrior and your mindset is your sword, the sharper your sword the easier you can fight the battles of life. Think about the limitations you have put on yourself by the way you think or the limitations others have put on you because of how they think. Write them down and under each one, write how you’re going to think positively instead as you move forward, even if you have to write multiple positive thoughts for each negative thought. I want you to be intentional and really think about it!
