God tells the Israelites to have no other gods before Him. This means that we shouldn't put anything above God - He should be the center of our lives and everything that we do should flow from God's place as the most important in our hearts. When things got tough, the Israelites tended to turn away from God, and to start putting other, fake gods in the center of their hearts. This got them into a lot of trouble! We know that we can trust God at all times and that He loves us and has a beautiful plan for our lives. Even when things get rocky, we should honor God first and above all else!
