Fact: We all know somebody who gets on our nerves. And when people annoy us, we want to do everything we can to get away from them. We drive them away from us so that we don’t have to deal with whatever it is that bothers us about them. But here’s something important to remember: Jesus never does that with us. He models the way we should treat other people, and He always treats us with acceptance. He desires to connect with and have a relationship with us when we’re at our best and when we’re at our worst. Think about what it would look like for you to offer the same to the people in your life—even the ones who really get on your nerves.
