Growth in the Harvest

Mark 4:26-29
“…This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground…All by itself the soil produces grain – first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”

We can’t force spiritual growth in the lives of others. Neither can we speed up the convicting, softening work of the Holy Spirit. Our call is to spread seed. The gospel has within it the power to change lives. Even after the gospel of Jesus Christ has sprouted in someone’s life, there are stages of growth, development and understanding that we must patiently watch and support until full maturity of faith is formed. It is God who makes faith grow; however, we are invited to plant with him wherever we go.

Jesus, you are the Lord of the harvest. I pray for your Word and gospel to be planted amongst the least reached.
