The Gift of Generosity

1 Chronicles 29:3, 5-6, 9
“…‘I now give my personal treasures of gold and silver for the temple of my God…Now, who is willing to consecrate himself today to the Lord? Then the leaders of families, the officers of the tribes of Israel…gave willingly…The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the Lord…”

The last act of David’s life was a sacrifice of generosity and praise. His generous gift of his personal treasury for the building of the temple inspired and challenged other leaders to also give sacrificially, generously and wholeheartedly. The example of generosity by leaders released joy in God’s people and they expressed their wholehearted devotion to God through generous giving.

Have I worshiped God with sacrificial and generous giving?

As leaders, are we inspiring others with our giving?

Have we realized that all we have comes from God, and that there is great joy in giving back to God what he has entrusted to us?

Lord Jesus, thank you for your generosity to us. Thank you for the gift of giving. I pray you would help me develop that gift, for your glory.
