Faith Explored: Navigating the Christian Worldview

4 DIENA NO 7

# Day 4: The Christian Worldview and Morality We all know that harming an innocent human with an intention to cause hurt is morally wrong. Why is it wrong? Is it just because national law states so? St. Augustine famously said that evil is the privation of good. But, what is good? Some might say that a person doesn’t have to be a Christian to be morally good. True. But if there is no God, then there is no objective standard of right and wrong. Morality becomes subjective and moral values are either just expressions of personal taste or the by-products of socio-biological evolution and conditioning. The concept of objective morality loses all meaning. Good and evil do not exist in a universe without God. In a world without a divine lawgiver, there can be no objective right and wrong, only our culturally and personally relative, subjective judgments. There is only the bare valueless fact of existence, and there is no one to say whether something is right or wrong. We need a transcendent Being as the foundation of morality. God’s nature (His goodness) is the absolute standard for morality. God is – the good. We all intuitively know the fundamental moral laws, as our conscience acts as a moral compass. The Bible says God has written His moral laws in our heart. #### Application: As we explore the concept of morality within the Christian worldview, let us remember that it is not a set of arbitrary rules but a reflection of God's very nature. His moral guidance shapes our lives and helps us navigate the complexities of right and wrong in a world where His light shines as a beacon of truth.
