WE HAVE JOY AND GLADNESS

“You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” Hebrews 1:9 NIV

Originally prophesied by Isaiah, this scripture captures the pleasure of God the Father for Jesus Christ. It expresses God’s delight in righteousness and the anointing of the oil of joy, sometimes interpreted as gladness, which refers to the Holy Spirit’s presence, bringing spiritual joy, comfort, and blessings to believers.

Throughout the Bible, the oil of the olive tree is associated with the anointing for joy and gladness. The olive tree also brings joy and gladness through the tangible benefits it adds to the various aspects of life, primarily by enriching the economy and livelihood of the community in which it is planted.

Seniors can experience a fullness of life that includes joy, gladness, and a sense of purpose. It is the will of God that society’s elders experience the joy of the Lord as we advance in years, enjoying life and enriching the spiritual landscape of our communities with our joyful presence, bringing joy to those whom we encounter.

AFFIRMATION: I embrace the fullness of life that God intends for me as a senior. With joy, gladness, and a sense of purpose, I advance in years, enriching all those I encounter. I am a vessel of God's joy, contributing to the well-being of others and finding the deep fulfillment and purpose that comes with each passing year.
