The unfolding of Your Words gives light.
Psalm 119:130 NIV

When I was a little girl, I was afraid of the dark. At bedtime, I just knew there was a monster under my bed, ready to reach out and grab my ankle — so I assumed the nightly pose: bed turned down, teeth brushed, hand on the light switch, standing in an invisible “starting block.” I’d hit that switch and take three large steps and fly onto my bed and dive under the covers as fast as I could to avoid that hand grabbing my little ankle. Just typing that story, I can again feel the stress of that childhood nighttime routine.

I wish I knew then what I know now: that the Truth — the Word of God — casts out darkness and fear. Reading the Scriptures by the power of the Holy Spirit, unfolding and understanding what God is telling us, envelops us in light. In grace. In hope. Take time with one verse, with half a verse, with a word -- until the light is turned on. Bask in it until God speaks. Until your heart is happy. And that monster under your bed will vanish in the light of truth!
