5 Powerful Prayers to Transform School Communities

1 diena iš 5

### God Hears “Mr. Norris!” “Hi, Mr. Norris!” As a young girl, I was convinced my dad was famous. It seemed that anytime we went to the mall or to a sporting event that students would approach us, always with a big smile, to greet my dad. As a high school guidance counselor, he has invested his life well.  Over the years, thousands of students have found refuge in his office, confiding in him about issues at home and challenges in the classroom. Encouraging, faithful, loving, and hopeful are just a few of his many admirable qualities. But I believe what these students are drawn to and what I treasure as well, is Dad’s ability to listen. My dad is one of those people who lean in, eyes focused, making you feel like you are the most important person in the world. You know he has been listening because of the timely, thought-provoking questions he asks. I believe my Dad’s heart to listen and to make people feel valued is a reflection of the heart of God. God lovingly welcomes us into a relationship with Him and is never too busy for conversation with His children. He speaks to the hearts of students and staff and listens to their every word, whether spoken or simply whispered in their hearts. Today, as we begin 5 powerful prayers to transform school communities, we are confident that God is not too busy or distracted to hear and answer our prayers for students, faculty, and staff. Let’s pray today, praising our God who hears and for hearts to hear Him. Praise God Who Hears “I love the Lord because He hears and answers my prayers. Because He bends down and listens, I will pray as long as I live.” Psalm 116:1-2 Lord, we give You thanks for listening to our prayers. You, the creator of the universe, are not too busy or distracted to hear our voices on behalf of school communities. Pray for Hearts that Listen “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” Hebrews 4:7b God, we pray for a new movement of students with hearts to listen for Your voice. When they hear, may they not harden their hearts, but trust You in obedience, according to today’s scripture from Hebrews. Thank You in advance for the healing and blessing that will come as a result of hearing Your voice. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
