Day 4: Change Your Alignment

We’ve established that vision is vital and that it requires a new, God-authored perspective, but another challenge to vision is one of alignment. 

Simply put, you won’t ever experience radical life transformation—and you can’t receive 2020 vision—if you aren’t in the right alignment.

But when you get in the right alignment, you’re in a position to receive the vision God is trying to give you.

Think of the catcher and pitcher in a baseball game. The only reason that relationship works is because they’re aligned with one another. If the catcher doesn’t know what the pitcher is going to throw, or if the pitcher doesn’t trust the catcher to do their job, then their team is in trouble. Misalignment can lead to a bad pitch at best or serious injury at worst. 

Or think of a quarterback, ready to take a shotgun snap. What if that quarterback took three steps to either side? Or turned around and faced the other way? What might that kind of alignment do for the play they’re about to run? You already know the answer—that ball is about to get taken to the house by the defense.

When things are out of alignment, that’s when things go wrong. But when they’re in perfect alignment, it all goes smoothly. If you’ve ever assembled furniture, you know the feeling. At first you try to work that bolt into the bed frame and it just won’t go, but then you make a small adjustment, everything lines up and—bam—just like magic, it eases in. 

Maybe you’ve been wanting to see God’s vision for your life and you haven’t. Maybe you’ve been wondering why. 

Maybe it’s because you haven’t yet aligned with God.
