Reading the Bible in Historical Sequence Part 8Pavyzdys

For 23 years Jeremiah has been warning the people that to stay in their land they must obey God or will be exiled for 70 years in Babylon. All nations ( Jeremiah 25:26) including Babylon will come under God’s judgment. In 605 BC Babylon invades Judah, makes Jehoiakim its vassal and carries off some skilled Jews and temple treasures. Baruch reads Jeremiah’s prophecies in the Temple. This annoys the king who burns the scroll. Jeremiah denounces Jehoiakim for his evil.
