Our obedience affects generations; God loves David so much that He is gracious to his family forever, in spite of their imperfection.
God is also faithful to be true to His Word, punishing them where He had promised to if they stray. Greatness is on this family, however. This is their family story, and ultimately Jesus's family story as well. Jesus is a much better King than his family, thankfully!
