Thoughts on the message

There are only two groups of people preparing for the possibility of Jesus rising from the dead. The religious leaders and the Roman governor. His disciples and all His friends are nowhere to be found. It is rather humorous.

Still, it shows that despite their best efforts to stop Jesus from rising – they could do nothing. The powerful Roman government with all its authority and the powerful religious leaders could not stop Jesus even though they tried their best.

Remember that. When God promises you something, there is nothing this world can do to stop it.

Prayer

Father, as we close out another year, this is an important thing to remember. This world will do its best to stop what You have promised for me and yet there is nothing that they can really do. What can stop Your promises for me? Me. I can choose to walk in unbelief and fear. That will stop me from seeing, trusting You, and walking in the promises that You have for me. Help all of us to see this today. Help us to hold on tightly to all Your promises no matter what happens around us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
