Love

Love is the first fruit,
the root and riverbed
from which all others rise.

It holds joy in its arms,
because it rejoices with the truth.
It carries peace in its quiet hands,
because it does not seek itself.

It waits in patience,
always hoping.
It walks in kindness,
never dishonoring another.

Love is goodness without envy,
humble without boasting.
It is gentleness that protects,
faithfulness that stands unshaken,
self-control that does not burn with anger.

Love is faithful,
because love never fails.
And when all else falls away,
three will remain: faith, hope, and love—
and the greatest of these is Love.
