Addiction Rewritten: Addiction Takes, God Providesಮಾದರಿ

When addiction drains your energy, God drives you forward.
Addiction is like trying to run through water. Your brain tells your body to move quickly, and you push your muscles the same as you would on dry ground. But instead of being propelled forward, everything is slow and heavy. Why? When you try to run through water, you meet resistance. Water is much denser than air, so instead of moving freely, the resistance steals your momentum. Addiction works the same way, only it’s the weight of shame, guilt, and fear that drains your energy.
When the Psalm says that God “makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him,” think of Him placing your feet on dry ground. Gone is the resistance of the water. Suddenly, the energy you are using actually drives you forward. You are now moving freely because God is carrying the weight for you.
Prayer
Lord, when the weight of the world tries to drag me down, lift me out of the water and set my feet on dry ground. Help me trust Your strength more than my own. Help me run to You. Amen.
