Cleaned Up, Called Out

What happens after God forgives you?

Isaiah’s story keeps moving. After mercy comes mission. He hears God ask, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us” (Isaiah 6:8, NIV). Isaiah answers with a willing heart. “Here am I. Send me” (Isaiah 6:8, NIV). This is a simple pathway you can follow, too. God shows His goodness. We admit our need. He forgives. Then He invites us to share His love with others.

Think about the pattern. Isaiah sees God’s glory. He becomes honest about his sin. God removes his guilt. Then God asks for a messenger. Peter experienced something similar. After a miracle catch of fish, Peter told Jesus he was sinful, yet Jesus still called him to follow and to fish for people (Luke 5:8 to 10, NIV). God does not pick perfect people. He forms willing people. James puts it plainly when he writes that “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble” (James 4:6, NIV). Humility says yes.

You may wonder what to say or how to start. God helps with that, too. In Isaiah 59:21, God promises to put His Spirit on His people and keep His words on their lips. A simple paraphrase of that promise is this: God gives you His presence and gives you words to share, and He plans to keep doing that.

Here is a very gentle next step. Ask God for one name today. One person to pray for. One person to encourage. One person to invite for coffee or to church. Small steps make a real difference. When God asked, Isaiah answered. You can, too, right where you are.

Prayer: Father, thank You for forgiving me. I offer myself to You again. Here I am. Send me to love one person well today. Give me Your words and Your heart. Amen.
