DAY 1: INTRODUCTION TO WORSHIP

For many of us, worship is something we engage in because it’s part of what it means to be a believer. While worship is present in almost every believer’s life in one way or another, most of what we do as worshippers has been ‘caught’ rather than ‘taught’.

We need the Holy Spirit to guide us away from an understanding rooted in our own personal preferences, performances, personalities, practices, experiences, or cultural and religious backgrounds. Without His input, guidance, and revelation, our reference of what worship is will remain inaccurate and incomplete. If we miss His heart on this, worship can become over-complicated or shallow, and, before long, we may even find ourselves judging others for what they are doing (or not doing) in worship.

The person of Jesus Christ can never be excluded from any conversation on worship. He takes centre stage. He deserves all our worship, on Sundays during corporate worship time with other fellow Christians, but also in our everyday lives. Everything starts and ends in HIM

Worship is life-transforming because it keeps us aware of – and in touch with – the context we so desperately need for our everyday decision-making. As committed disciples, our lives will be transformed when we commit to engage and grow in a lifestyle of worship.
