What the Bible Says About Advent - 29 Days of Advent Meditations

DAY 10 OF 29

Day 10: Peace Among Nations

  • Verses:
    • Isaiah 2:4: "They will beat their swords into plowshares... Nation will not take up sword against nation."
    • Micah 4:3: "They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks."
    • Psalm 72:7: "In his days may the righteous flourish and prosperity abound till the moon is no more."
    • Luke 2:14: "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests."
    • Revelation 7:9: "A great multitude... from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne."
  • Reflection:

Christ’s peace extends beyond individuals to all nations, promising a future of harmony and unity. The vision of swords turned into plowshares speaks of a world transformed by His reign. Advent points us to this hope, where diverse peoples will worship together before God’s throne. This peace challenges us to live as agents of reconciliation, fostering unity in our communities. Christ’s coming ensures that His peace will one day encompass all creation.

  • Application:
    • Reflect on a conflict in your family, church, community, or the world. How can you be an agent of Christ’s peace?
    • Today, take one step toward reconciliation, such as listening to someone from a different background or supporting a peace-building initiative.
    • Share this vision of global peace with someone, perhaps through a discussion about Christ’s unifying love, inspiring hope for His promised harmony.
  • Prayer:

God, may You, as the Father of all peace, bring Your reconciliation to me and my family, to all people who follow you, and let Your peace reign in our lives and our world. In Jesus' name. Amen.

About this Plan

What the Bible Says About Advent - 29 Days of Advent Meditations

These 29 daily devotionals, created by Dr. Walt Larimore, are structured around the four traditional pre-Christmas Advent candles—Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love and one final devotion for the penultimate Christ candle. Each of the first four weeks focuses on one candle, with seven daily devotions exploring a specific aspect of that theme through Bible verses, a reflection, and a prayer prompt—then, of course, the final Christmas Eve or Christmas Day devotion. All Bible verses are quoted from the NIV, 2011.
