Do you ask yourself if you’re the cause of the trouble in a crisis?

In today’s reading, the heathen sailors seek to understand the cause of their stormy seas. While Christians often blame the unsaved for their troubles, Jonah, a man who knew the Lord, was the reason behind the storm and brought trouble upon others by disobeying the Word. He rightly examined himself and acknowledged his guilt (Jonah 1:7–16).

Although Jonah made many mistakes, he demonstrated self-awareness in this instance. I hope you can emulate Jonah and evaluate yourself during a crisis to determine if you are the cause of the trouble. If so, try to resolve it biblically.
