Week Six - Day Four - I can Run my Race
Welcome to our ‘Run the Race’ Devotional - we are so excited to have you following along with us as we journey through the Bible. We are taking a look at some people in the Bible to find out how they ‘Run the Race’ that God set before them. Each of us has a ‘Race to Run’, something that God has made us for. Our ‘Race’ is like a lane on the running track but the best, most exciting thing is, we get to ‘Run our Race’ together with God and He provides EVERYTHING that we need to complete our Race!
John was telling people about a special person who would save them from their sins…..
READ:
John Baptises Jesus in the Beginners Bible (pages 303 - 307 ) or in Matthew 3:1-17, Mark 1:1-11, Luke 3:1-22 or John 1:1-34.
John told the people to get ready for a special person who would save them from their sins (all the bad things they have done or will do) - he was talking about Jesus.
Jesus came so that we can be forgiven for our sins and ‘Run our Race’ free.
Saying sorry to Jesus, turning from the bad things we have done and living our lives following Jesus is how God wants us to ‘Run the Race is set before us and never give up!’
ASK:
Jesus came to save us from all the bad things we have done or will do - because of Jesus we get to ‘Run our Race’ knowing that we are forgiven!
Have you ever tried to run with something tied around your legs? Or tried to run carrying a heavy weight?
When we don't say sorry for the bad things we have done it is like trying to run with a heavy weight.
When we say sorry to Jesus and live our lives following Him - we can ‘Run our Race’ free.
REMEMBER:
‘So we have many people of faith around us. Their lives tell us what faith means. So let us run the race that is set before us and never give up’ (Hebrews 12:1)
SAY:
I am an overcomer
I can run my race
I can raise a happy sound.
His people all around.
My God has given me everything
He is faithful and true,
With my eyes firmly fixed on Him
His power will get me through!
