A Blessed Memory
Did you remember where you put the keys last night? Or where you last saw your reading glasses? Let’s focus on the importance of your memory today.
In God’s Word, memory is essential because it helps us remember God’s faithfulness and keep His commandments. In the Old Testament, God often instructed His people to remember His mighty acts, such as delivering them from Egypt (Deuteronomy 5:15). These memories were meant to strengthen their faith, guide their obedience, and preserve their identity as God’s chosen people. Remembering what God has done fosters gratitude and keeps believers anchored in His truth.
Additionally, the Bible emphasizes the importance of remembering God's Word and teachings. In Proverbs 3:1-2 (NIV), Solomon urges, “My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity.” Memory serves as a spiritual safeguard, enabling us as believers to resist sin, remain hopeful in trials, and encourage others with the truth. Forgetting God’s works or laws, on the other hand, often led to spiritual decline and disobedience.
Your brain center for memory is called the Hippocampus. It is a major storage center for the mineral zinc. Zinc is depleted from wheat, soy, and sugar. Aluminum, which has been the subject of memory loss research, has an affinity for soy. From our experience with hair analysis results, aluminum is elevated with stressed adrenal glands, and liver congestion from processed food consumption affects mental quickness. One way to add more zinc into your diet is with raw pumpkin seeds. Sprinkle them onto your salad today with some olive oil as dressing.
