Uncharted: Ruach, Spirit of God

DAY 55 OF 70

“I said to myself, ‘Come now, I will test you with pleasure to find out what is good.’ But that also proved to be meaningless.” - Ecclesiastes 2:1 (NIV)

Ecclesiastes was written by King Solomon, who said, “I became greater by far than anyone in Jerusalem before me.” Despite his wealth, wisdom, and power, Solomon was searching for meaning. He explored pleasure, possessions, and accomplishments, but found them all to be ultimately meaningless.

What this shows us is that true meaning isn’t found in wealth or status. It’s found in something deeper. Later in the book, Solomon concludes that real purpose comes from fearing God and keeping His commandments.

I know for me, I’ve often thought, “Life will be good once I pay off the mortgage,” or “If I get a new car and a jet ski, I’ll be happy.” But I always come back to the same realization: this is not where meaning is found.

Prayer:

God, help us to let go of chasing after worldly possessions. Teach us to pursue a deeper relationship with You, where true meaning and joy are found. Amen.
