Uncharted: Ruach, Spirit of God

DAY 56 OF 70

"For all can see that the wise die, that the foolish and the senseless also perish, leaving their wealth to others." - Psalm 49:10 (NIV)

Regardless of our age, looks, wealth, brains, background, culture, we all leave everything behind when we die. Nothing that we have purchased, our homes, their furnishings, our car, clothes, shoes, jewelry, leisure items, comes to heaven with us. Given this, it makes sense to think about what we invest in. What will last? What really matters? What are we building our lives on?

We have no doubt all have been guilty at times of impulse buying, living beyond our means, buying with the immediate in mind. How many of us are deliberate in budgeting and setting money or time aside and asking God how we can use this to extend His kingdom? Small amounts of both time and money add up and can have great impact if invested wisely.

Do an investment 'check'. Make a list with two columns, 'perishable' and 'eternal', and write down how you spend your time and money. Do you need to make some adjustments to what you prioritize?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for preparing a home for me in heaven. Show me how to invest in things that last. Amen.
