God, I’m Tired: Honest Rest for Exhausted Parents

DAY 4 OF 8

Pouring Out the Hidden Resentment

No one wants to say it out loud, but let’s go there:
Sometimes, buried under all the “I love you’s” and “I’d do anything for you” there’s resentment.

Resentment for the sleep you’ve lost. The freedom you can’t get back. The version of you that feels buried under constant needs and endless interruptions.
You wouldn’t trade your kids for anything but secretly, you wish someone would trade places with you for just one day so you could remember what it feels like to breathe.

The enemy loves hidden resentment. He keeps it buried and feeds it quietly until you snap at the people you love most and wonder why you’re so angry all the time.
You can’t heal what you won’t confess. You can’t rest if you’re pretending you’re not bitter when deep down you are.

David said, “Pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.”
You don’t have to pour out a polished prayer. Pour out the real one:
“God, I’m tired. I’m mad. I feel trapped. I feel overlooked. I feel like I’ve lost myself.”
He can handle it. He won’t shame you for it. He wants to carry it so it stops carrying you.

This is where real rest begins not when the kids behave, not when the house is quiet, but when you tell the truth in His Presence.
Pour it out. Let Him hold it.

Reflection

What hidden resentment are you carrying that you’ve never really admitted to God? What’s one raw, unfiltered thing you need to pour out to Him today?

Prayer

Father, I confess what I’ve been holding. The frustration. The resentment. The guilt for even feeling this way. I pour it out before You because I don’t want it rotting my heart. Meet me here and trade my bitterness for Your peace. Amen.
