Messengers of the GospelSýnishorn

Eternity is at Stake
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:14-15 NIV)
As we walked through the front doors of the quaint old building, we found lovely hardwood floors, starched white tablecloths, and waiters with authentic long black aprons who spoke with authentic French accents. We had been searching for authentic French Cuisine in our hometown ever since our favorite local chef retired. Could this be the place?
From the exquisite French onion soup appetizer to the luscious crème brûlée dessert, the dinner was a fantastic replica of the meals we had enjoyed during our honeymoon in Paris. It was amazing!
My spouse and I were so happy and excited to have found such a place. We told our friends about the experience and invited them to dine there with us. We knew their lives would be so enriched by having a perfect French meal. Because we wanted others also to enjoy this experience, we felt compelled to share our great discovery… with everyone!
Nowadays, it’s easier than ever to share our thoughts and recommendations. Social media allows us to spread the word about the best wrinkle cream, the finest clothing, and the most amazing vacation locations. Some even get paid for bringing the things we “need” to our attention. These influencers can have millions of followers, but even so, we often remain skeptical because we don’t really know or trust them. The true influencers in our own lives are usually our friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers —people we know and trust personally.
So, how do you use your influence?
As disciples of Jesus, we have the greatest news a person can ever hear. Since we have experienced the beauty of a relationship with Jesus, we have the chance to be the greatest influencers to those around us. We know that only in Jesus can people find salvation, healing, deliverance, and true life-changing transformation.
The Good News of Jesus can transform people's lives in our circle of influence. It can change their lives not just while they live on this earth, but also their eternity.
We have the message that everyone needs to hear! A life-saving message!
But…
What if we keep the message to ourselves?
What if we do not share because we do not want to “offend”?
What if we do not share because we are too busy, too distracted, or afraid?
What is at stake for those around us?
Jesus made it clear that there is only one way to have a relationship with God: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6 NIV).
There is no other way. Those who do not accept this message of God’s mercy and grace will spend eternity outside of God's presence, period. There is no option for a do-over.
When it comes to the influence we have, we cannot settle for merely making restaurant recommendations. We must focus on what truly matters. The Good News of Jesus is exponentially more important and urgent than sharing about the perfect dish of escargots.
As disciples of Jesus, let’s be the influencers who use our lives and words to point others to Jesus.
Reflection:
Create a list of 5 people you know who do not yet have a relationship with Jesus. Commit to pray for them every day during the Messengers of the Gospel series. If you are doing this Bible plan in a group, use the Talk it Over chat to share your 5 names.
