Messengers of the Gospel

DAY 1 OF 35

Welcome to the Messengers of the Gospel Bible Plan

Welcome by: Stan Jantz, Global Ambassador of the Come and See Foundation

Welcome to Day 1 of the Bible plan for the Messengers of the Gospel series. Thank you for your desire to be a messenger of the greatest story ever told.

The word “gospel” simply means “good news,” specifically the good news about Jesus and what He did to save us through His life, death, and resurrection. In his letter to the Roman church, the apostle Paul called the gospel “the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16 NIV).

This good news is so important that Jesus told His followers to tell everyone everywhere about Him. Before He ascended into heaven, Jesus gave this commission: “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19 NIV). Disciple-making isn’t just for pastors and church leaders. Helping others follow Jesus (that’s what a disciple does) is something all of us are called to do.

As the Global Ambassador for the Come and See Foundation, I have the awesome privilege of spreading the good news of Jesus to the world through The Chosen, the multi-season series about Jesus and His chosen followers. Our mission at Come and See is to make it possible for a billion people to experience the authentic Jesus, but we cannot do this alone. We love coming alongside people like you who are praying for friends, neighbors, co-workers, and loved ones to be impacted by the good news of Jesus.

I love telling people about The Chosen, but what really gets my heart going is when I can share the gospel with others and explain what it means to know and follow Jesus, not just know about Him. You see, The Chosen is telling the greatest story about the greatest person in history. What I am called to do by Jesus Himself—what all of us are called to do—is to tell people how to know Jesus personally and then follow him for the rest of their lives.

That’s why my wife and I love serving in the “I Raised My Hand” ministry at our church, Bayside Church, Orange County. Every single week, one of our pastors gives a message from the Bible and then asks people to respond to the Gospel by praying to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord. As a sign that they have become what the apostle Paul calls a “new creation” in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV), anyone who prays the salvation prayer is asked to raise their hand.

Those who have made this decision are then invited to come to the “I Raised My Hand” table, where we give them a Bible and several resources for getting started in their new life in Christ, including a book I co-wrote, Ten Essentials for New Christians. We also encourage them to join a small group community where they can grow with other followers of Jesus.

As you follow the Bible plan for the Messengers of the Gospel series, my prayer is that you will take delight in sharing the good news gospel of Jesus with everyone everywhere, inviting others to follow Jesus as He told us to do.
