Prayer Initiative: Closer to Jesus Sýnishorn

Bethesda means “house of grace”. But in people’s eyes that pool was a painful site. A large number of disabled men and women used to lay there waiting for the water to move. Each one needed help and assistance, some more than the others. The man Jesus chose to heal has been an invalid for thirty-eight years. There was no one to help him. No one, but Jesus.
When Jesus commanded him to pick up his mat and walk, the man was healed immediately. But, instead of celebration, there came trouble. “Who is this fellow who told you to pick it up and walk?” The pressure from the religious authorities was so high, that the cured man, instead of proclaiming Jesus’ power, traded Him in. Persecution against Jesus began and no testimony could convince them He and the Father were one. Jesus did not shy away: “Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent Him.”
Persecution is not over. Some people, even those healed by Christ renounce Him, religious authorities question His deity, and those who believe in Him are being put in jail or even killed. Yet, Jesus promises: “The victorious one will not be hurt at all by the second death.”
What healing have you experienced in your life? Glorify Christ for it. Are you persecuted in any way? Ask the Lord to strengthen you. Read again John 5:31-47 and find who and what is testifying about Jesus. Remember these testimonies. Ask Jesus: “What do You have in Your Word for me today?” Listen and pray.
INTERCESSION : Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (Matthew 5:10-12)
PRAYER :
- Pray for the persecuted church. Around 365 million Christians are subject to high levels of persecution and discrimination. 1 in 7 Christians is persecuted worldwide.
- Pray for the top ten most persecuted countries in the world (according to the World Watch list) – North Korea, Somalia, Libya, Eritrea, Yemen, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sudan, Iran, and Afghanistan.
- Continue praying for the people on your list.
- Continue praying for the miracles on your list.
