Prayer Initiative: Closer to Jesus

DAY 9 OF 21

One fantastic Sabbath day a man born blind came back home seeing. His neighbors and those who formerly saw him begging, asked: “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?” Some claimed that he was. Others said he only looked like him. But he insisted: “I am the man.”

When Jesus’s disciples first saw that man, they were sure either he or his parents sinned and he was punished to be born blind. But Jesus corrected them. God had a different purpose with this man. He who walked in physical darkness his whole life encountered the Light of the world Himself and the works of God were extraordinarily displayed in him. Now he was a man who could see.

And no interrogation or intimidation from the Pharisees could make him deny the new truth of his life:

“He put mud on my eyes and I washed, and now I see.

I know I was blind and now I see.

You don’t know where He comes from, yet He opened my eyes. Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind. If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”

When the religious leaders threw him out for his testimony, Jesus found him, and the former beggar believed and worshipped the Son of Man.

Reflect for a few minutes about how Jesus transformed your life. Remember one specific moment when you were called to testify to people too blind to receive your testimony? How did Jesus meet you to reveal Himself even fuller? Ask Jesus: “What do You have in Your Word for me today?” Listen and pray.

INTERCESSION: "They called the apostles and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus and let them go. The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name. Day after day, in the Temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah." (Acts 5:40-42)

PRAYER:

  • Pray for a powerful testimony of the Church to the world.
  • Pray for Christians to be in the world but not of the world.
  • Pray against the deceitful messages of Satan that things related to God need to be kept private.
  • Pray for your church to be passionate about the Lord and the Gospel.
  • Continue praying for the people on your list.
  • Continue praying for the miracles on your list.

About this Plan

Prayer Initiative: Closer to Jesus

The Gospel of John will be our focus for the next 21 days, one chapter at a time. We will carefully explore his words, discovering all we can about Jesus. We will dig deeper to understand the signs and miracles that could only be performed by the Son of God, the One Who came from above.
