Prayer Initiative: Closer to Jesus Sýnishorn

Stoning was a procedure of punishment during which a group of people threw stones at a guilty person until that person died. Death by stoning was prescribed by the Law of Moses for committing grave sins, such as adultery, murder, practicing the occult, and blaspheming. Before the execution there had to be a trial with the testimony of at least two witnesses.
So they caught that adulteress and brought her before Jesus. His verdict was important to them, stones ready in hands. “Now what do You say?” they asked Him. The woman did not interest them much, they needed a basis to accuse Jesus. In the middle of all that conundrum, Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with His finger. The accusers didn’t understand what He was doing and kept questioning Him about the woman. Then He stood up and said what they never expected to hear: “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” And again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said.“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
Where in your life are you still struggling with sin? Confess it before the Lord. Read Romans 8:1-2. Praise Jesus for freeing you from all condemnation. Ask Jesus: “What do You have in Your Word for me today?” Listen and pray.
INTERCESSION: "Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." (John 8:34-36)
