DAY 66 OF 91

Continuing from where we were yesterday, we see Solomon begin to preach and bless the people as the temple is opening. Look closely and notice who Solomon gives credit to in this speech - God alone. He doesn’t paint the completion of the temple as something he did, even though he spent his whole life laboring for it to be completed. Instead, Solomon paints the entire temple as being a part of God's massive plan for His people starting back in Exodus.

This temple is for "[God's] name" (verse 18), so it is appropriate that credit would go to God alone. As God's glory filled the temple and filled that moment, it is clear that Solomon realized that only God is worthy of glory and praise, not himself.

Think it Over: How can you give glory to God and not yourself in your daily life?
