King & Kingdoms

DAY 43 OF 91

When a king sins, his people often pay the price. It is pride that leads David to count the greatness of his army. Yet, it is humility that takes him to his knees in intercession for his people. David quickly learns the strength of his kingdom comes from God alone. An army built in 30 years could be destroyed in three days. And even as David attempts to atone for his failure and save his people, it is only the mercy of God that saves Jerusalem from the consequences of this one man’s sin. By bowing to a bigger throne, David, in the most unlikely of ways, foreshadows Christ.
