King & KingdomsSýnishorn

In this story, we see the consequences of David’s actions resulting in a plague from the Lord where 70,000 Israelite men died. Just like David, our reality is that we also live in a fallen world and we are broken people. There will be times in our life when we will make wrong choices that will result in consequences. But why in this story does God need to discipline David for his actions? For the sake of justice and the sake of love.
A holy God cannot let wrongdoing go unpunished, he would not be just if he did. But also, God desires good for his people. He knows how destructive our own sins can be to us and does not want us to stay in those places. Oftentimes, we resist discipline, because we see it more as an act of revenge than an act of love.
Think it Over: How can we learn from David’s example and look to be more open to correction in our lives today?
