The Fruit of Following Jesus

Romans 15:5-6
“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Unity among God’s family is not always easy to find. We can become discouraged and even want to give up our ministry assignments and mission. But God desires to give endurance and encouragement, as well as a spirit of unity to his people as they follow Christ Jesus. It is in following Christ Jesus, staying close to him and learning his ways that we grow in endurance and encouragement. This discipleship is costly, yet at the same time it is very rewarding. If Jesus is our conductor, all our instruments will tune to him. We will glorify God our Father with both heart and mouth when we are tuned to Jesus. Our convictions and our words will line up as we tune ourselves to Jesus. Unity, endurance and encouragement grow in discipleship with Jesus. He is our source of life.

Lord Jesus, thank you for the invitation to follow you this day. Thank you for new endurance, encouragement and unity this day, for your glory.
