Matthew is writing primarily to a Jewish audience. Often called the Book of the King, Matthew focuses on Jesus’s Davidic line through his legal father, Joseph. Matthew will show that Jesus fulfills Scripture throughout his Gospel. Jesus is of royal blood, is perfect regarding the Law, and fulfills the Messianic Vision of the Old Testament. .
